Reuben Sub

A deli classic with a twist, this Reuben-inspired sub layers savoury pastrami, nutty Gruyère, and tangy sauerkraut inside a soft, toasted Hovis Buttermilk Sub Roll. Finished with creamy mayo and a kick of horseradish, it’s a bold, tasty sandwich that delivers big flavour in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 Hovis® Buttermilk Sub Roll
  • 25g Pastrami
  • 25g Gruyère cheese (sliced)
  • 2 tbsp Sauerkraut
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Horseradish cream

Tip

For a melty upgrade, pop the open sandwich under the grill for a minute after adding the cheese and pastrami - this helps the Gruyère melt and the flavours meld beautifully before adding the sauerkraut.

Method

Slice the Hovis® Buttermilk Sub Roll in half lengthways. Lightly toast both halves in a dry frying pan or under the grill until golden and warm.

Spread the mayonnaise and horseradish cream evenly across the bottom half of the toasted sub roll.

Layer on the Gruyère cheese slices, followed by the pastrami.

Top with sauerkraut, then close the sandwich with the top half of the roll. Serve warm and enjoy!
