Sweet, spicy, and full of crunch, this Asian-inspired sub layers sticky soy-glazed pork mince with a cucumber and carrot slaw, all served in a soft Hovis Buttermilk Sub Roll. Finished with a swipe of mayo, it’s a bold, vibrant bite that balances heat, freshness, and umami in every mouthful.

Ingredients

  • 1 Hovis® Buttermillk Sub Roll
  • 60g Pork mince
  • ½ Garlic clove (grated)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Fish sauce
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 1–2 tsp Sriracha (to taste)
  • 20g Cucumber (matchsticks)
  • 20g Carrot (matchsticks)
  • 1 tsp Coriander (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Mint (chopped)
  • ½ Lime (juiced)
  • 1 tsp Mayonnaise

Tip

For extra texture and flavour, toast the sub roll halves for extra crunch and to keep them from going soggy.

Heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook the pork mince until fully browned and cooked through.

Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, honey, and sriracha to the pork. Cook for a few more minutes until the mixture becomes slightly sticky and caramelised.

While the pork is cooking, combine the cucumber, carrot, coriander, mint, and lime juice in a bowl. Mix well to create the Asian slaw.

Slice the Hovis® Buttermilk Sub Roll in half lengthways. Spread the mayonnaise on the bottom half.

Layer the cooked pork mince on top of the mayo, then add a generous helping of the Asian slaw. Close the sandwich and serve immediately.
