Tuna Granary Sandwich

Make a classic Tuna Granary Sandwich in just 5 minutes! Packed with flaked tuna, crisp veggies and creamy mayo between slices of Hovis Granary bread. The ultimate easy lunch.

Made with Hovis® Granary® Medium Sliced

Preparation time: 5 mins

Cook time: 0 mins

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2 thick slices Hovis® Granary bread
  • 1 can (approx. 110g–145g) tuna (in spring water or olive oil, drained)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp red onion or spring onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp celery or cucumber, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • Butter
  • Handful of fresh crisp lettuce (such as Little Gem or romaine) or rocket
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Tip

Placing lettuce over the buttered bread creates a natural barrier against moisture! It keeps your Granary bread nicely textured and stops that dreaded "soggy sandwich" syndrome, ideal if you're packing lunch for later.

Method

1

Drain the tuna thoroughly. Press out as much excess liquid as possible using the lid. Dry tuna prevents a soggy sandwich.

2

In a small bowl, flake the tuna with a fork. Stir in the mayonnaise, diced onion, diced celery/cucumber, Dijon mustard (or lemon juice), salt and black pepper until well combined.

3

Spread a thin layer of butter over one side of each slice of Hovis Granary bread.

4

Place the crisp lettuce on top of the buttered side of the bottom slice. Spoon the tuna mixture evenly over the lettuce.
