I joined Hovis in 2018 as Head of HR - Organisational Development. I studied Psychology at University and helped in my family's Fish and Chip restaurant so I suppose working in food is in my DNA. Since then I have had a variety of Learning and Development roles in the Consumer Goods sector during my career before joining Hovis.
I have responsibility for the development and capability processes for Hovis as well as our Apprentice Strategy. My team work closely across all functions to deliver training solutions to support internal development needs using both our internal functional experts as well as signposting training delivered by our training providers. We are a small, positive, proactive team with a can-do attitude!
Hovis is a unique environment, which relies heavily on teamwork. It is always busy, but there is great camaraderie. In my role, I need to be resilient, agile and build great relationships across the business.
I am proud to work for such an iconic brand and of course, I have a favourite product - Hovis Granary thick, ideally with lashings of butter and Marmite!
“My Dad was an Engineer. Always taking things apart and fixing things, and I think that must have rubbed off on me. I was a Technician on the machines for two years and I saw the effect that even the smallest breakdown could have on production, which led me towards Engineering. I wanted to know exactly how the machines work, how to fix them when they go wrong and how to prevent them from going wrong in the first place. Obviously, there’s a lot of pressure to fix things as quickly as possible but there’s also the huge satisfaction of getting them working again. We’re learning all the time from the more experienced engineers, and because we work very much as a team, they’re only too happy to help.”
"I love working for Hovis® because it has become my 2nd family over the last 14 years, I have celebrated weddings and several births and made some lifelong friendships. During my career with Hovis I have been given many opportunities to develop and progress with encouragement and support along the way. Hovis has played a major part in my life both professionally and personally......I met my husband here!
