Juicy, delicious homemade BBQ beef burgers made easy! Reduce food waste by using leftover breadcrumbs in the tender patties, all served in soft Hovis Premium Burger Buns.

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cook time: 10-12 mins
Serves 4-6 burgers
Cut two slices of bread into pieces, place them into a blender and pulse until you get fine, fresh breadcrumbs.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced beef, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried herbs, salt and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix the ingredients together until evenly incorporated (avoid overworking the meat to keep the burgers tender).
Divide the beef mixture into equal portions (4 large or 6 medium). Roll each portion into a ball and press down to form thick, flat patties. Place greaseproof paper between the patties to stop them sticking together.
Place the patties directly onto a hot barbecue grill (or a hot griddle pan indoor). Grill for around 5-6 minutes per side, turning once, until cooked through and nicely charred on the outside.
Optionally, lightly toast the burger buns on the barbecue grill for 30-60 seconds until warmed through.
Spread a spoonful of burger sauce onto the toasted bottom bun. Then place the cooked beef patty on top. Add a slice of cheddar cheese, sliced red onion, tomato, sliced gherkins and a Little Gem lettuce leaf. Finally, add an extra dollop of ketchup or burger sauce to the top bun, place it on top and serve immediately.
